Day 1: Journey to Awash National Park – Safari & Rift Valley Landscapes.
Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, your guide will greet you and escort you on a scenic road trip southeast to Awash National Park. This drive offers your first glimpse into Ethiopia’s diverse landscapes, as bustling city streets give way to vast savannahs and distant escarpments. Upon entering the southern portion of the park, you’ll embark on your first wildlife-viewing experience. Look out across open plains where zebras graze side-by-side with oryx, sooty kudu, and elegant gazelles. Hidden among the thorny acacia groves, sharp-eyed travelers might catch a glimpse of a tiny dik-dik darting for cover or baboons and monkeys lounging near the riverbanks. The park’s scenery is as impressive as its fauna—deep gorges carved by the Awash River, ancient volcanic cones, and vast stretches of grassland stretching to the horizon. You’ll visit the Awash River Falls, where the river crashes dramatically into a basalt gorge, offering spectacular views and photographic opportunities. Overnight at Doho Lodge & Hot Springs, a charming mid-range eco-lodge located just outside the park boundaries, offering serene views and access to natural thermal pools. Day 2: Mount Fentale Hike, Hyena Cave & Flamingo Lake Excursion.
After breakfast, drive toward the base of Mount Fentale, a dormant volcano that dominates the park’s skyline. From here, begin a moderately challenging five-hour trek up the mountain. Along the route, your guide will explain the volcanic history of the area, and you’ll pass through rugged lava fields, rocky outcrops, and desert vegetation. At the summit, panoramic views stretch across the park and into the Rift Valley basin—an unforgettable sight. After the descent, stop for a relaxing picnic lunch near the natural hot springs, where you can soak your feet in the warm mineral-rich waters. The springs are surrounded by swaying palms and provide a perfect place to rest and recharge. In the afternoon, take a drive to Lake Beseka, a saline lake known for its growing population of pink flamingos and other aquatic birds. Nearby, you’ll explore the Hyena Cave, a rarely visited spot where these nocturnal predators make their home. As the sun begins to set, witness the unforgettable scene of 20 to 30 hyenas emerging from their den, while flocks of birds skim the lake’s surface. Return to your comfortable lodge for a restful evening and a final soak in the thermal pools.ACCOMMODATION |Doho Lodge & Hot SpringsMEALS |Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Palm Groves & Hot Springs – Return to Addis Ababa
Wake up early for a morning drive through the northern sector of the park, heading toward an expansive palm tree forest located near another set of natural hot springs. As you travel, you’ll have the chance to observe more wildlife—perhaps a group of kudu grazing in the morning light, or warthogs scuttling between the bushes, and even dik-diks darting between the tall grasses. Upon arrival, you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the steaming hot spring pool, surrounded by lush vegetation and birdsong—a peaceful moment to reflect on your time in the wild. After a leisurely swim and a final wildlife viewing, you’ll begin your drive back to Addis Ababa.
